Edward
P. Bond, CPA, CFE, CIRA
Edward P. Bond attended New York
University and the New York School of Finance, and received
a BS degree from Seton Hall University. A member of the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)
and the New Jersey State Society of Certified Public
Accountants, he is certified in New York and New Jersey.
From 1969 to 1974, he was partner and later President of the
New York and American Stock Exchange member firm. During
this period of time, Ed had set up and established the
clearing operation and back office facility converting from
manual to automated system, as well as successfully
supervising the transfer of in excess of 10,000 retail
accounts to a major clearing brokerage firm, when it was
determined that the economics involved became more favorable
to go from clearing to non-clearing. Ed has maintained a
leadership position in the financial and business
communities for more than 35 years, including serving ten
years as a member of the New Jersey State Board of
Accountancy and two years as President.
In addition
to serving as the Firm’s Chairman, (having previously served
as the Firm's Managing Partner), Ed oversees a department
which specializes in bankruptcy and forensic accounting and
in that capacity has personally been involved with hundreds
of bankruptcy cases. As a recognized expert in the field of
bankruptcy, Ed Bond was a featured speaker for the New
Jersey Panel of Bankruptcy Trustees, has given a seminar on
Bankruptcy to the Morris-Sussex Chapter of the New Jersey
Society of CPAs, and was selected to serve on a committee
with Judge Moore and then Assistant U.S. Trustee Novalyn
Winfield to evaluate the Role of Examiner in the District.
Ed has previously testified as an Expert Witness numerous
times, and has served as an examiner appointed by the office
of the U.S. Trustee. Ed has acted as Trustee on numerous
occasions, most recently for the successful Chapter 11
reorganization of Dr. Madis Laboratories (100% cash plus
interest to all creditors - secured and unsecured). He has
completed the role of Umpire, as defined under the New
Jersey ADR statute. Ed is court appointed as a mediator, a
responsible person, a receiver, a fiscal agent and an
arbitrator and is currently acting (along with Bederson) as
the bankruptcy and financial consultant to the Futures
Representatives in the Asbestos Bankruptcies of G-1
Holdings, Federal-Mogul, NARCO, A.P. Green (Global
Industrial Technologies, Inc.), and AcandS.
Ed Bond was a
featured speaker at a seminar held by the New Jersey
Institute for Continuing Legal Education on "Financial
Aspects of Chapter 11". His article titled "Anatomy of a
Successful Turnaround in Chapter 11" was published by
Turnarounds & Workouts, a Washington, D.C. based industry
publication. Ed was asked to participate as an Expert
Witness in a Moot Court proceeding for law students at Seton
Hall University, and also made a presentation on Forensic
Accounting at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Renowned for
significant contributions in the field of insolvency and
reorganization, Ed is a member of the American Bankruptcy
Institute, the Association of Insolvency Accountants, and
the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees. In
addition, he is dually licensed as a Certified Insolvency
and Reorganization Accountant (CIRA) by the Association of
Insolvency Accountants and as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
by the National Association of Fraud Examiners.
Named as
"Outstanding Young Man of America", Ed has been a trustee of
the PAL Boys’ Club; treasurer, vice president and member of
the board of the Valerie Fund, a non-profit organization
established to benefit children with cancer and blood
disorders; was president of the Newark Jaycees; was
treasurer of the State of New Jersey Jaycees; served on the
Small Business Administration (SBA) Advisory Board; is a
former president of Executive Exchange, a business
networking organization; and served as treasurer of the Ruth
Bass Foundation, a non-profit organization established to
aid the homeless in New Jersey and New York; currently is
past president of the Garden State Cancer Center Foundation
and serves on the Advisory Council of Fleet Bank. Mr. Bond
was a recent recipient of the Lion of Judea Award from the
State of Israel Bonds and was elected as the sole public
member of the Nominating Committee of the American Stock
Exchange Board of Governors. Additionally he was currently
appointed to the Board of Directors of the Daughters of
Israel.
A member of
the New Jersey and New York State Society of Certified
Public Accountants, Ed served on the NJSCPA Scholarship
Committee and the J.H. Cohn Award Committee. Ed was honored
by the Boy Scouts of Bergen County as Outstanding Community
Leader of 1995. He also received the Governors award in
1993 and was appointed to the Mediation Panel of U.S.
Bankruptcy Court for the district of New Jersey. He serves
as member of the Board and Chairman of the Audit Committee
of “The Scholarship Fund for Inner City Children.” A newly
appointed member of the Board and Chairman of the
Development Committee for the West Orange Chamber of
Commerce, Ed serves on the Mayors Business Advisory Council.
Ed Bond lives
in Convent Station, New Jersey with his wife, Dr. Abby
Westrich-Bond.
